Great Idea, Poor Execution

I purchased the Prime Stability Pad over a year ago and would like to share my experience.

I've been a Prime Prodigy Rack owner for over 5 years now and to utilize this Stability Pad, I did have to replace the 3x3 posts to the upgraded version with the 1 inch holes on all sides. Unfortunately, after using the new uprights, it's apparent the quality has dropped significantly from ~5 years ago. These new 3x3 uprights are seemingly smaller than the old ones -- so now, all of the attachments have wiggle and wobble. They unfortunately do not fit as tight as they used to. The new uprights are also in two pieces -- the bottom foot peg is now screwed into the post, rather than being one solid piece like the older uprights. The new uprights powder coat is already scrapping off from the attachments like the Dip Bar, Lat Pulldown, and the Stability Pad. This could also be attributed to the fact that all of the attachments are not actually secure and they have movement and wiggle -- so much for a Stability Pad, right?

Now, Prime has a Torque Arm available to fix this very problem -- AND they expect you to pay $65 for the solution to the problem that they created. I'm not sure how to justify spending more money on something that should have been 'turn-key' from the start. It's called a Stability Pad, but now you have to use shims and purchase a torque arm to actually make it stable.. seems like this should have been sent out to all customers who purchased a Stability Pad and experienced this issue.

The Prime Stability Pad itself is a high quality piece of equipment - nice pads, nice pop pins, great powder coat, etc. but I do wish they used a pop-pin that did not have a curve at the end -- this makes it more likely to slip out when using.

Overall, Prime has quality equipment, quality customer service, but this new angle of charging for something that fixes a problem their product has due to releasing it "half baked" just seems outrageous to me.

Such a Useful Addition to a Home Gym

I actually had no idea that the stability pad would have as much of an impact on my training as it does. I basically splurged on it for chest flys but found multiple other ways to take advantage of its utility. I now utilize almost every workout in some fashion. For back I use it as a chest pad to imitate the new Prime pulldown machine.

For chest I use it to do flys to imitate a pec deck. For shoulders I use it for reverse flys to imitate a rear delt machine. For arms I use it for incline curls and cable overhead curls. For legs I use it to brace while doing standing adductors training. And I’ll probably continue to find new ways to incorporate in my training.

Code PrimeFan5 saves 5% if you decide to try it for yourself.

Awesome

I never leave reviews, but I thought I’d help offset the two idiotic 1 star reviews by people who DON’T EVEN OWN THIS PIECE OF EQUIPMENT.

This thing is very well built and awesome for what it is and the purpose it serves. I’ve already created a max-ROM abdominal crunch movement using this, my HLP rack, and the R0-T8 spreader bar. You’re only limited by your needs and imagination.

Prime exists almost exclusively in the 1” hardware ecosystem. As does Rogue, Rep, & Sorinex, just to name a few. These companies make up almost my entire home gym. That’s my choice.

You do you. There are companies in the 1/2” ecosystem, 5/8” ecosystem, etc.

Don’t complain that a specific product is not compatible with your chosen ecosystem, and leave a poor review as your way of “getting back.”

Get in or get out and live with your options. Or make better life decisions. Idiots.

Great for chest supported rows + more

Mainly using the stability pad for a compact chest supported row setup paired with dual voltras using the inverse chains setting. Doesn’t get much better.
